Glitterati Unite: Mangano Opens in Malta!

Dear Readers,

There's nothing like a good store opening to start Autumn on a good note, especially if the store in question is Mangano. The Mangano brothers commenced their fashion journey back in 1986, when I wasn't even born, and they've managed to make it to the top of Italian fashion in a matter of a few years.

Mangano opened their store in Malta yesterday, hosting a pretty glamourous fashion party to mark this event. Obviously I was there to bring you my first impressions of the shop and the collection. My friend Alexia joined me for the day as well :)

The Entrance.

Menswear Section.

My first impression of the shop itself was very, very positive. Whoever was responsible for the interior design of the shop has done an incredible job. From chandeliers, to brocade changing rooms and luxurious carpets, the shop has Renaissance written all over it. I have a soft-spot for brightly lit shops, especially if they're decorated with white pieces and walls. Mangano has both of those elements, hence the big smile on my face in the following photos.

Pretty shop, right?

The catalogues are glamorous enough for my tastes, too.

My imagination is running wild, as usual. But, I just have to tell you what I'm thinking about in this very moment. The Mangano store is pretty cut off from the rest of the stores at Baystreet. As I made my way happily into the store - very much like a child walking towards a funpark - the shop looked like a castle from one of our favourite fairy tales. It really reminded me of those pretty castles with a bridge just before the entrance. If you visit the store, which I strongly encourage you to do, please let me know whether you get the same impression as well. If not, I might get a seperate ID for my imagination.

Cameraman.
Oh, we got free wine and champagne too.

Balloons which urge you to 'be the icon'.

Enough with the chatter and on to more pressing matters. What do I think about the collection? If I had to describe the clothes using a couple of adjectives, I would definitely choose 'edgy', 'modern' and very 'glamourous'. Seriously, this collection would piss glitter if it only could. I liked that it incorporates plenty of pieces, from cardigans to necklaces, from hats to socks. I wasn't too keen on the dresses myself, but there are a couple of things I would love to own and hug repeatedly. Yes, I like to hug clothes. Don't you?

Browsing like a boss.

Love the chandeliers.

Price-wise, the collection is definitely not the cheapest pieces around. My favourite piece, a brocade blazer, retails for over hundred euro. But then again, I always end up liking something that's way too pricey for my poor little purse. Having said that, there are more affordable things in the accessories section starting from only twenty euro! Additionally, the collection includes 'staple' items and 'statement' pieces that I wouldn't mind splurging on. All in all, I would say that prices aren't very cheap, but they are very similar to other high-end stores on our island. After all, this is Mangano and not another high-street shop.

My friend Alexia and I identified some of our favourite pieces in the newly-opened store which I want to share with you over here:

The Black Floppy Hat.

The Bowtie.

The Owl necklace, which Alexia ended up buying :)

This belt and its edgy details

The Brocade Blazer I mentioned earlier.

Leopard Print shoes. Love it with teal too :)

Overall, Mangano has met my expectations. I wasn't expecting anything less from them, to be quite frank with you all. Anyway, I want to visit the store soon, preferably with a heavier purse, to have a closer look at their current collection. In the meantime, I hope my post has done the store some justice.

Alexia, Lara and the Brocade Changing Rooms.
