I invite you to take a seat and make yourself comfortable. Never in my life have I ever imagined myself blogging about Hello Kitty, because the feline is not exactly my cup of tea. Especially, if the aforementioned cat has bagged herself the magazine cover - oh wait, it's a double cover - of Vogue Taiwan's 20th anniversary cover.
Readers, behold Hello Kitty in all her grandeur - or? - gracing the cover in an overly pink feathery do and then in a slightly more bearable polka dot outfit.
I feel so startled I could literally fall of my chair and rock front and back like a traumatised being. Whilst the fashion blogosphere is intent on finding out who Hello Kitty is wearing, I'm trying to justify these two covers. Knowing there are two of these covers is even worse. It could be cultural difference or my non-existent liking for this kitty that makes me want to cry. I can't help but wonder who lies beneath that costume. For all I know, it could be a random girl who has never even heard anything about Elle.
The only thing I like about these cover is the polka dotted font in the second cover.
I haven't condemned a cover so harshly since Vogue India's deplorable November cover. I believe it's now time to leave this keyboard, because I could start criticising that horrible Vogue India cover all over again . But, I can't. I shall not for I'm off to look at pretty covers in my Vogue archive. My eyes have seen enough creepiness for today.

ReplyDeleteI'm a bit biased as I'm a bit of a HK lover - much to the dismay of my boyfriend and family - so I think it's kind of cute... Plus coming from Taiwan, you kind of expect something random like that... xD
