DIY: Lace Panel Denim Shorts

Dear Readers,

I'm in a fully fledged DIY phase right now. All I think about is sewing projects, updating pieces I no longer like or making new ones from scratch.

One of my most recent - and very quick! - DIY projects is this lace panel denim shorts I made a few days ago. I have been seeing so many different types of panel denim shorts over Tumblr and LookBook, and my body nearly dragged itself to a 'panel denim shorts shopping spree' last weekend. Then I remembered I had a pair of denim shorts I never wear - or rather, never wore - and some leftover peach lace fabric from a dress that had arguably lost its charm. Introduce the two to each other, and the lace panel denim shorts was born.

I should have really done a step-by-step photo tutorial but it didn't come to mind at the time! If you want to create something similar, maybe even using other types of fabrics  like floral printed ones, start by pinning the textile onto one side of the jeans and on the opposite side's pocket. Once you do this, then trim all the extra fabric and start hand sewing the fabric to the shorts, trying to use a thread that matches the main colour of the material (unless you're going for some contrast, that is!).

Voila! It's ready.

As I said, I'm in a DIY phase at the moment so similar posts should follow. I hope to do a better job at outlining all the different stages next time!
