République

A few days ago, I posted about spotting the perfect beige coat at Zara in Brussels. After a few sleepless nights - thinking about this marvelous creation - I decided to go ahead and make it mine. I wore it to my sister's graduation for the first time, but it makes its official premiere here on Boffism thanks to this outfit we shot in Place Rèpublique, Paris.

This was a severely cold day, one of those in which you wonder whether the universe has created anything warm enough in the sartorial department to help you survive it. My Zara coat pretty much did the trick though, especially paired with this plaid scarf my mother made me from this random piece of fabric we found at a market stand.

I have to admit that being in Paris for a couple of days has reminded me of my aesthetic sense's strong French flair. I'm a sucker for all things Parisian, in particular. Hence why this outfit came together in the city of lights.

Don't forget that all the outfit details as well as my lookbook.nu hype button can be found at the end of the post! See you tomorrow!

Weekend Round Up Post #2

This has been a very busy week! After spending all my work breaks, flight hours and in-between errands time preparing for a new project starting December 1st - Vlogmas, y'all! - I'm trying to make the most of this weekend by pampering and resting before heading back to Belgium tomorrow for my last week of work before the highly anticipated trip to Paris next week! Here are this week's posts in case you want catch up!

Pink Fashion Show at the Malta Aviation Museum

Local fashion events have increased exponentially over the past year. In between store openings, blogger previews and fashion shows, our calendars can barely take all the enthusiasm around these fashion happenings. It is, however, a particular pleasure to attend one of the most well-organised fashion shows I've ever had the pleasure to sit for. Last night's Pink Fashion Show, at the impressive Malta Aviation Museum in Ta' Qali, was one of those events I would have regretted not being part of.

In a venue that could easily give some of the most prestigious international settings a run for their money, one of Malta's leading fashion publications brought together some of the biggest names in the sartorial scene for a show that was as jaw-dropping as it was enjoyable. The 1940s vibe could be felt everywhere even as the guests pranced in with their Sunday suits, albeit it being Wednesday!

The outfits I had the occasion to see yesterday included garments from Marks and Spencer, Max & Co. as well as pieces from Blumarine. I was particulary drawn to a number of items from the latest Tommy Hilfiger collection too. Other brands included high-street giant Guess and recently opened store Coccinelle.

The show was also a great example of inspirational styling! I will definitely be trying out some of the combinations that the models so gracefully showcased on the catwalk. A big well done to everyone, here's hoping for another one in Spring!

Fifteen

If there's one thing that can quickly teleport me back to my early teenage years, it's definitely a pair of Converse style sneakers. I doubt how many of you knew of my existence since then - not complaining, the hair choices I made at the time are of a cringing nature - but I was indeed a Greenday-obsessed curly head who practically lived in Converse.

At one point in time, in between the release of Avril Lavigne's 'Let Go' album and the time Simple Plan's 'Welcome to my Life' was all the rage, I owned 29 pairs of such sneakers. They were paired to everything from blazers, to tailored pants, to band t-shirts, all the way to my school uniform PE tracksuit. I eventually grew out of them - after endless 'you need to outgrow the Converse phases' sermons by at least 30 people in my life - and remained hesitant to start re-wearing the ever since.

However, I've finally given in and got myself a pair from New Look. I spent Saturday afternoon out in the countryside and quite frankly these are the only shoes that I could wear for 'the occasion'. The entire outfit ended up being an impromptu tribute to my early teen fashion sense - the plaid shirt, white t-shirt, dark boyfriend denims all fit in the fifteen-year old Boffism picture.

In order to keep with the fifteen year old theme, I decided to jump up and down like a frog. I was quite fond of that during the time.

Outfit details and Lookbook button are at the end of the post.

Taking A Bath With itStyle 3.42.2 Glamour Lipstick

Every once in a while, a girl has got to fill up her bath with bubble fun, put her polka dotted shower cap on, remove all her make-up and wear her current favourite lipstick - it's all very romantic comedy style. If the girl happens to be a blogger, it would be advisable to take pictures of it all.

I was given this particular shade - namely itStyle Glamour Lipstick no. 3.42.2 - at last week's itStyle launch in Sliema, and since it has been sitting on my dressing table with all the other lovely products I was given to try out, I have been reaching for it almost every single day. In comparison to my other deep red lipstick colours, this particular one has a slight dark pink tone to it that sets it apart. In fact, if a deep red lipstick and a dark pink lipstick were to have a mini lipstick baby, this would be its colour.

Whereas the packaging is really not my cup of tea - I always prefer plain packaged items, alas! - I only have words of praise with regard to the colour pay-off, pigmentation as well as the longevity of the product. It usually lasts me around an entire day without even drying my lips.

The lipstick also has a hint of shine or gloss to it, but for all those fellow members of the 'we don't like shiny lipsticks at all' club - of which I am president, of course - it's not that much of a big deal. It passes my test.

I have another colour from this range which I need to share with you all as well. Maybe next time I'll shoot myself in the shower.

I Plaid Guilty

Since it is rather unacceptable to attend any fashion event naked - I'm clearly taking the piss here okay? - I decided to wear my new plaid pants to the M&S launch last Saturday. I'm slightly obsessed with plaid this season, so I definitely had to get a pair of trousers to wear almost every other day. I got this particular pair from Strasbourg last week and even though you can't catch the colour from these particular photos - too much sunlight for good photos.. - they're in a perfect maroon colour. They're very similar to the ones I had posted in my mid-week wishlist last week.

As I tend to do, I paired a plain white shirt on top and neutral black accessories. I never wear my huge cartwheel hat, but last Saturday I was in a particularly hatty mood so I said, 'why not?'

Details of the outfit as well as my LookBook hype button are at the end of the entry.

Mirroir

Yo dawgs! Look at me speaking like a proper gangster. As you might have realised, I'm in France for nearly the entire week. I take way too many photos here, so I decided to add a couple to the hundreds I've snapped already by capturing my outfit in a shop window. That's probably as close to being in a shop window I'll ever get (or not?)

Whenever I'm in Strasbourg, I always feel the need to dress up like a proper French woman: stripes, leggings or skinnies, a contrasting scarf and plain ballerina flats. This time was no exception.

Outfit details are at the bottom of the post. Don't forget to follow my photography blog for some photos of this perfect French location.
