Dupe-o-rama

Dear Readers,

I was reading Rhi's (aka The Other Side of Cool) blog yesterday, and she wrote about finding a possible dupe for the American Apparel Disco Pants and the J.Crew Pixie Pants. Even though the two aforementioned items of clothing may ring a bell to some of you, I have to admit that they're 'bigger' on YouTube (so it's okay not to know about their existence).

The dupe post on Rhi's blog inspired me to write a 'Dupes I've encountered recently' entry, which I'm posting today. I like to draw a difference between 'rude knock-offs' and 'good dupes'. The first are the audacious sort that have LV patterns all over. Some exchange one of the letters for another thinking that the world is silly enough not to notice the difference. Only today, I've seen a fragrance called 'Change No.5' and I've come across one too many bars of 'Nars' chocolate. Good dupes are inspired by a high-end item without trying to fake the real thing. I don't mind dupes, I don't like knock-offs.

Disco Pants/Pixie Pants vs. Zara Leggings/Tally Weijl Jeggings

This is what Rhi blogged about yesterday. In her post, she showed a pair of thick leggings that retail for around 25 euro at Zara. The same pair of leggings come in multiple styles: some have zips on the side, others don't. My  intention was to rush to Zara today, but I woke up with horrible allergies (the joy!) and I  couldn't embark on this adventure. I did, however, go to Tally Weijl's sale section and to my surprise I found yet another dupe! Coming in black, blue, red and grey, Tally Weijl's dupe of the Pixie Pants are on sale for 13 euro. I obviously bought them - in black, in case you were wondering - and I might go back for the blue pair before they run out of them.

As Rhi commented on the Zara pair, the Tally Weijl ones don't cinch you in like the Disco Pants/Pixie Pants claim to do. Tried and tested by both of us I guess. However, I can tell you the Tally Weijl ones have a highly flattering cut.

Chanel Lilac Creepers vs. Boohoo Lilac Creepers

I like to browse through the Boohoo website quite regularly. It's part of my 'omg let's imagine I had tonnes of money to waste on online shopping...what would I buy?' routine. Anyway, a few weeks ago I spotted a pair of lilac creepers and I was stunned by my own reaction to them. I don't like creepers. I don't. These are lilac though. Do I like them? It's the same sort of feeling you get when you end up having a crush on that one guy you taunted for ages.

As I'd do for the crush on the 'guy I shouldn't like but I do', I tried to ignore the existence of these creepers but BAM! Karl Lagerfeld puts them in his Cruise collection for Chanel this week. I automatically found myself looking them up on Boohoo, again. Unsurprisingly, they were nearly all gone already!

Have you encountered any good dupes recently? TELL ME!

  3. Thanks so much for the mention :D finally got me off 369 followers- just seems such a dirty number! This post was great, I NEED to get me down to Tally Weijl! I absolutely live in my Zara ones and one pair really isn't enough. They're so much more comfortable than trousers/jeans and much more forgiving and versatile than leggings. 13 euro seems a bargain!

Those creepers are a great dupe too. I've never seen creepers in the flesh and I'm not really sure how I feel about them... love the colour of these ones tho! xx
