I don't know whether it's my ever-growing fixation with Italy or some strange bout of taste-change, but I've been loving anything coming from the Dolce & Gabbana duo. Their latest collection, showcased at MFW on my lucky birthday - that must be a sign - is no exception.
In a collection evidently inspired by the Catholic church, models sported rosary beads, angel-wing sleeves, cardinal-red dresses, religious icon prints and molto di piu'. The garments paying tribute to the famous, laboriously-created mosaics of Sicily's Monreale cathedral worked seamlessly with the herringbone tailored numbers.
My favourite combinations were undoubtedly those in a dramatic, monochrome contrast. Add a an opulent cross and I'm all religious again. In the name of he father, the son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
